M.V.Sc. Thesis:
Worked on "Immunomodulatory Approach for Gut Immunocompetence in relation to Intestinal Intraepithelial Lymphocytes (iIELs) of Chickens".
The cytotoxic activity of iIELs was studied in chickens that were experimentally infected with Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD) and Eimeria tenella. The role of certain immunomodulators like Immunostimulating Mycobacterium phlei (ISMP) and Bone Marrow Culture Supernatant (BMCS) during these infections was studied. A colorimetric assay was deveoped using MTT salt to evaluate the cytotoxic activity of iIELs.
Recipient of IVRI Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) during M.V.Sc
Ph.D. Thesis:
Worked on "Antigenic Characterization of Buffalopox Virus and Immune Effector Mechanisms in its Experimental Infection"
Monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) were produced agaist the BP4 strain of Buffalopox Virus (BPV) and for the first time the antigenic characterization of BPV was partially completed. The reactivity of MAbs with seperated polypetides of BPV in Western Blot, and also the neutralisation ability of MAbs in cell cultures infected with BPV were studied. Various cellular immune effector mechanisms like cytotoxicty of lymphocytes etc.during experimental infection of BPV were studied.
Recipient of IVRI Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) and Council for Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) SRF during Ph.D.
